Today we welcome blogger and Personal stylist/shopper for frumpy to funky to guest blog for us. Radley collector did attend the Radley SS14 press day this year but we thought for a change we would invite a guest to write about it and give you a different insight.
Over to Karen ….
Radley SS14 Press Day
Stepping in to the Radley SS14 press event I was transported in to the lazy hazy summer countryside with sights and sounds of buzzing bumble bees and singing finches surrounded by displays of giant sized wild flowers such as the poppy, thistle, foxglove and the fluffy dandelion seed head.
Inspired by English country meadows the colour palette was a picnic of mouth watering colours such as rhubarb red, apple green, golden honey and fresh peppermint surrounded by delicate floral shades of rose, blossom, buttercup, cornflower, snowdrop and lavender plus the sharpness of nettle green. For those classic neutrals, black was also present and the lighter more muted alternative of slate grey.
Totes and top handles were dominant. New designs included the Kirkwood, a soft hand-woven barrel bag with convenient side pockets at the ends; the Laine, a tall postbag tote with a flap opening and both shoulder and top handles; and just what the doctor ordered , the doctor’s tote bag clearly a winner to lift anyone’s spirits. Bowling me over was The Finch mini bowling bag with its subtle embossed pattern and looking so chic in slate grey. But my favourite was the geometric and structured Alston with its clean lines and contrast trim. Looking fresh and crisp on display in the apple shade of pale green with a hint of yellow. Classic favourites were still there with the iconic equestrian style Grosvenor looking the biz in rhubarb and the slouchy Johnston looking super soft in buttercup.
It was great to see that the hot shot illustrator William Grill has designed yet another fun print for Radley this season. Other prints were seen in accessories included the Radley Scottie dog frolicking in between hearts or roses on notebooks, flipflops, coffee mugs and cute little teapots.
Speaking of hearts, Radley are continuing their support with the British Heart Foundation with this season’s new heart foundation tote bag in rhubarb red with a tiny bumble bee buzzing inside a rose pink heart.
All in all, the new collection is blooming lovely!
